Since we began in 1993, CatholicCare NT has had a long history with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Northern Territory. Our staff have been working alongside these people and communities for over 25 years, and our services continue to expand into regional and remote areas. This is why we are so passionate about reconciliation and why our commitment to reconciliation is so strong.
Our vision for reconciliation is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be valued and their cultures respected. We hope to see equality and equity restored, with everyone receiving the respect and dignity they deserve.
Our vision for our organisation is to work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in ways that support everyone’s strengths and expertise. With this in place, we can assist more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities, who need our support.
Through a partnership between our staff and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Reconciliation Australia, CatholicCare NT is proud to have created a Reconciliation Action Plan. This plan commits us to continue to strengthen our partnerships with the communities we work with, restoring equality and respect. Our plan outlines clear objectives and continually evaluates our progress. With this in place, we can not only demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation but also clearly measure our progress.
